The Berkeley Fire Department and several other agencies are responding to a vegetation fire in the hills above Claremont Avenue and Fish Ranch Road, authorities have reported.
Deputy Berkeley Fire Chief Donna McCracken said firefighters were dispatched at 4:43 p.m. to help fight the blaze.

Initially the call came into the Berkeley Communications Center, which transferred the call to Oakland.
It turned out that the fire is in the Moraga-Orinda jurisdiction, and is “running uphill” north of the Claremont Avenue and Fish Ranch Road intersection, McCracken said.
Oakland and Berkeley firefighters have responded, along with East Bay Parks and the Moraga-Orinda fire departments.
McCracken said the vegetation fire is “under attack right now by all those agencies.
Update, 5:27 p.m. According to a Nixle alert sent out by the Berkeley police, on behalf of BFD, at 5:18 p.m., “The Berkeley, Oakland, Cal Fire, East Bay Parks and Moraga/Orinda Fire Departments are working a one acre vegetation fire on Grizzly Peak north of the Claremont intersection.
“This is an advisory message only at this point. No action is required on the part of the community. There have been no injuries or property loss. The fire’s progress has been halted.”
Berkeley units had been released as of 5:25 p.m. and the fire had been contained, McCracken told Berkeleyside.
