Reports have been coming out from authorities throughout the day Monday about what is now described as at least three sexual assaults during a concert at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre on Saturday night.
The University of California Police Department did not name the concert, but the event is listed online as Diplo’s “Mad Decent Block Party” tour. The 18-and-over concert was listed as sold out on the organizer’s website. (Berkeleyside has reached out for a comment but had not heard back as of publication time.)
According to three statements put out by UCPD on Monday, the agency got a report at 7 a.m. Sunday of a sexual assault that had taken place at the concert: “The unaffiliated female victim was attending the concert and met a stranger who sexually assaulted her at the event.”
UCPD spokeswoman Sgt. Sabrina Reich said she could not release the victim’s age or any other information about her or the incident.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 21 years old, 5 foot 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a multi-colored tank top, dark shorts and a hat.
After the first UCPD statement was released at 12:20 p.m., a second one followed about 90 minutes later.
UCPD said a sexual assault occurred at 8 p.m. at the Greek “while a concert was in progress.”
In that instance, an 18-year-old student said she was standing in line for the restroom “when the suspect took her to an unknown location within the venue where she was sexually assaulted.”
The assailant was described as a white male (no age listed), 5 foot 11 to 6 foot 1 with an athletic build. He had brown hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a floral short-sleeved shirt and khaki shorts.
The third report came out at about 4:50 p.m. Monday from UCPD.
Authorities said they got the third report at 1:35 p.m. Monday “of a third sexual assault that had occurred on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at a concert at the Greek Theater.”
The female victim was also identified as a student who was attending the concert and was assaulted during the show. UCPD said more information would be released when it is available.
UCPD put out the notices as required by the Clery Act: “Campus Clery Timely Warnings are released by the University California Police Department when certain crimes are reported on or near campus property, in compliance with federal law. These timely warnings provide information about campus safety situations, and allow campus community members to take precautions for personal safety.”
Police ask anyone with information about these incidents, or any similar incidents, to call UCPD at 510-642-6760.
Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as an “annual traveling electronic dance music festival,” the Mad Decent Block Party has taken place in prior years in Berkeley without this type of report coming out. This year’s line-up included performers Dillon Francis, Grandtheft, Jai Wolf, Paul Devro and Tiësto.
Two shows in Phoenix are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, followed by one more night in Los Angeles on Oct. 1.
