Police have responded to northwest Berkeley for a report of an armed robbery, authorities have confirmed.

Police were on the scene in the 1400 block of Stannage Avenue as of about 1:50 p.m.

Berkeley Police Officer Byron White, department spokesman, said the robbers reportedly pointed a gun before taking tools from the scene at about 1:45 p.m.

Little information was available because the incident, on Stannage near Page Street, just happened.

Update, 4:15 p.m. BPD said a male and female with a gun tried to take a saw from construction workers at a North Berkeley home. When a worker confronted them, one of the individuals pulled out a gun and pointed it at them. The workers then let them go, and they drove off, said White. They were last seen going southbound on Cornell Avenue. No further information was immediately available.

Berkeleyside will update this story as more information becomes available.
