We started Berkeleyside nine years ago with the simple goal of providing a trusted, independent source of news in our city. We cover breaking stories, dig in depth into important issues, and celebrating the arts and cultural events.

We believe quality journalism matters for the health of our community and that everyone in the city should have unimpeded access to it.

That’s why we don’t have a paywall on our site or charge a subscription fee.
