Max Brimelow

Max is a British shortform video journalist, most interested in the environment, social issues and sports. He currently works for Berkeleyside, both in print and video, for the summer of 2019. He is a student at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, and a Hugh Fulton Byas Scholar, an award for "British journalists of outstanding promise." He has won several student journalism awards, including "Best Presenter 2018" for his undergraduate radio show, "Best News Video" as a presenter for Cal TV at Berkeley in 2017, and a newsroom award for The Mancunion, the UK’s biggest student newspaper.

Construction begins to close gap in the Bay Trail between Berkeley, Albany

When construction is completed in 15 months, people will be able to walk or bike all the way from Oakland to Richmond.

The closing of Berkeley’s emergency shelter forces homeless people to adjust

Now that the Ninth Street shelter has closed, homeless people are alternating between two properties. Seniors at the North Berkeley Senior Center are adapting to the situation.
