Montessori Family School

Montessori Family School has been skillfully teaching children via their intrinsic drive to learn, starting with the hands-on exploration of concrete materials and evolving to the development of critical thinking and conceptual understanding.  We nurture and value each child’s innate desire to contribute to the classroom and their communities.

Experienced in preparing our academic environments according to the developmental needs of children, adaptability came naturally to our classrooms during the pandemic. We knew the importance of offering full-day, in-person instruction through the 2020-2021 school year and saw our students absolutely thrive, even during such challenging times. This fall, we look forward to serving our students on campus once again.

MFS values a school community that is dynamic and diverse. At all ages, students learn cooperation, problem solving, and conflict resolution not because teachers tell them to, but because they learn that they are part of a larger, diverse society in which these skills prove critical to success.

For 40 years, we have kindled the desire to find out more – MFS knows that children are driven to learn and that, with support, the flame of that interest can burn indefinitely.

Maybeck High School

Educating students in the East Bay since 1972, Maybeck is an intellectually curious and creative high school with 120 students and 25 staff. We value relationships to each other and to academic excellence. Students are accepted for who they are and who they choose to become. We believe that knowledge in the sciences, the arts and the humanities are the foundation for a good life. All staff work to ensure that classroom instruction inspires and challenges. Ideas are heard, texts are debated, labs and equations are given generous time. Teachers and students spend time together in and out of the classroom as we foster the belief that learning happens everywhere, and the best learning comes when there is trust, confidence and mutual respect. Every day is an opportunity to pursue passions and deepen understanding. A Maybeck graduate enters the world with poise and confidence in their ability to analyze complex concepts, draw conclusions, and work with others to build a better world.
