The exhibition, one of the largest in the museum’s history, will present over 140 works by 76 artists and art collectives.
The project would rise on the downtown Berkeley block where another developer planned an 18-story building.
The Helen Diller Family Foundation is paying for the complex, but building it may require evicting people from a rent-controlled building.
