Police performed CPR on the man until firefighters arrived to take over life-saving efforts, but they were unsuccessful.
Authorities have identified the man who died Nov. 17 as Angel Barrera of Richmond. He was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
“We hope the coroner’s investigation and autopsy may reveal more,” police said Thursday.
The vehicle was a “lowered, dark-color, mid 90’s sedan, with tinted windows (possibly a Nissan Altima),” police said.
“It hasn’t hit me yet,” his daughter told Berkeleyside this week. “I just don’t know what I’m going to do without him.”
The family’s attorney has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against DoorDash and the driver. The attorney also plans to sue the city, alleging inadequate lighting and signage.
