“While we have no evidence of any threats made to students or staff, nor of either gun being brandished on campus, these are deeply concerning incidents,” BUSD spokesperson Trish McDermott said in an email.
The 16-year-old Berkeley High student pleaded guilty to a felony crime and his sentence includes time in a rehabilitation facility.
A BHS student who amassed parts to build explosives and assault rifles got them legally, police say, and was not ready to carry out an attack.
The BB gun had a “steel slide and polymer frame” and “all the visible markings of a real handgun,” police said.
The men were “looking for a particular student,” according to an email BHS Principal Juan Raygoza sent to the school community Friday night.
