A coalition of advocates for Berkeley’s homeless community gathered online to sing, pray and demand justice for the unhoused people.
The fire was an act of terror, said Pastor Michael McBride, who leads the 48-year-old Way Christian Church. He questioned the “timid” response to the incident from Berkeley’s leaders.
They are angered and disturbed by Police Chief Andy Greenwood’s comment that if police had no more access to tear gas, they might have to use firearms to respond to violent protesters.
