Update, 6:19 p.m. The Berkeley Police Department has called out its Fatal Accident Investigation Team due to the nature of the cyclist’s injuries.

Lt. Dan Montgomery said the cyclist, a female of unknown age, and the driver were both southbound on Fulton when the vehicle appears to have struck the cyclist.

She was dragged for a short distance beneath the vehicle. Authorities had to raise up the car to gain access to her. The cyclist was taken to the hospital. Police have not received an update on her condition, Montgomery said.

Montgomery said the Berkeley Fire Department was on scene within 2 minutes, and that police arrived about a minute later.
