Gordito Amigos

Thank you, kind commenter, for letting us know about the quiet departure of five-year-old taqueria Gordito Amigos from Telegraph Avenue. Vegans in particular were fans of the independently owned Mexican eatery’s offerings. Gordito Amigos was at 2404 Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley.

Gaumenkitzel

As Nosh reported, German slow food restaurant Gaumenkitzel will depart the soft-butter-colored corner property on San Pablo Avenue, possibly as early as March 24. The space is slated to become a barbecue restaurant. Co-owner Anja Voth told Nosh in an email that, after taking a break, they might explore options for a smaller restaurant or collaboration, but, for now, Berkeley has a few short weeks to say a fond farewell to Gaumenkitzel. Gaumentkitzel is at 2121 San Pablo Ave. in Berkeley and is scheduled to close March 24.

Home of Chicken and Waffles (moving)

As of Feb. 27, 444 Embarcadero West is no longer the home of Home of Chicken and Waffles. The good news is that the 20-year-old Oakland soul food restaurant will reopen soon inside the former Chop Bar at 247 4th Street, watch their social media and website for updates. Home of Chicken and Waffles was at 444 Embarcadero West in Oakland, and will soon reopen at 247 4th St. in Oakland.

Low Bar (new dining concept)

The end of February marks the end of the current restaurant menu (including brunch) at Low Bar, and though some patrons are getting emotional about the passing, fear not — Low Bar itself and its beverage menu will remain intact. Additionally, Low Bar announced on its Instagram that Chisme, a new dining concept from Manuel Bonilla, former executive chef at Palmetto, is set to take over the kitchen starting March 1. Chisme is focused on “food inspired by late shifts, dive bars, and cheap beer and shot combos.” Low Bar is at 2300 Webster St. in Oakland.

Timeless Coffee & Bakery Berkeley

Sadly, February 29 is the last day for Timeless Coffee’s Berkeley location. “We really tried but the time has come to close the doors for good at 2965 College Ave.,” states their closing post. “Thank you for all your love and support these last 6 years. We have made so many great friends and created amazing memories.” Timeless Coffee still has three popular locations in the East Bay. Timeless Coffee Berkeley was at 2965 College Ave. in Berkeley and will close after service on Feb. 29.
