Berkeley police have arrested someone on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon following a pellet gun shooting in Northwest Berkeley.

Officers first went to Page and Second streets around 3:44 a.m. Tuesday to investigate a report that someone had been shot inside a tent there, according to a prepared statement from police.

When police arrived they found someone with a wound to the arm, whom they took to “a safe location” until Berkeley Fire Department medics arrived and took the person to a hospital, police said.

Officers had to use a loudspeaker to convince the suspected shooter to come out of a tent, police said. They arrested that person and found what turned out to be a pellet gun.

Police did not specify whether more than one tent was involved.
