A 23-year-old woman was in custody Monday on suspicion of fatally stabbing her mother in a University Avenue apartment on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Gabriella Rebecca Riemer, 23, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of first-degree murder, and is being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, according to police and jail records. She was being held without bail.

Riemer was initially scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland, but that date was updated to Thursday, records showed.

Berkeley police said they received a call at around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday to report a stabbing in the 1300 block of University Avenue.

Officers “detained one subject believed to be involved” and found the victim, 60-year-old Heather Riemer, inside an apartment, Berkeley police spokesperson Officer Jessica Perry said. Berkeley Fire Department personnel declared the victim dead at the scene, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office’s Coroner’s Bureau took custody of the victim’s body.

“Our homicide detectives are actively investigating the incident, and it is still in its early stages,” Perry said. “We do not believe any other suspects are still at large at this time, nor is there any continued danger to our community.”

Correction: An earlier version of this story identified the suspect as Gabriella Rebecca Reimer, as it was listed in the Santa Rita Jail’s intake log. The correct spelling of her name is Gabriella Rebecca Riemer.
