The victim, a 42-year-old man, was stabbed twice in the arm and taken to Highland Hospital.
According to court records, Brett Walker was on probation at the time of his arrest due to a conviction for felony assault in December 2021.
Authorities say Yarman Smith, 33, grabbed a “butcher-style knife” and threatened to kill his parents and himself in late December.
Arrested or charged individuals are presumed innocent.
The 23-year-old Berkeley man was walking home when four men demanded his property, then stabbed him when he fought to keep it.
Yarman Smith has convictions for pimping a minor and possession of child pornography that sent him to prison in 2013, according to court papers.
The man hurled two rocks, shattering the window and injuring a man’s shoulder, before he was arrested, police said.
The Border Patrol arrested Kevin Alvarado in late July and sent him back to Alameda County to face murder charges.
Gabriel Jordan is also facing separate rape charges from a 2019 attack in Oakland.
Police said the woman who was stabbed in a tent in People’s Park on Saturday had serious injuries but is expected to survive.
“My son got lucky,” the father of the student told Berkeleyside on Wednesday. “This could happen to anyone.”
Both victims were rushed to the hospital but were in stable condition Monday, police said. Authorities have made arrests in both cases.
